QR Codes: Why You’re Doing Them Wrong (and how to do them right)
First floor foyer, Frontier Airlines Center
These days, many people know what QR codes are but, in the rush to use something “cool and techy,” most institutions aren’t putting thought into the user experience. On the tech side, this presentation will cover best practices such as being mobile-friendly, adding value and shortening URLs for better code scannability. On the design side, the presentation will provide many graphical dos and don’ts , including how one can visually brand them by creating framed-, “designer-”, and even physical-codes. Real world examples will be shown (both good and bad), and we’ll discuss recent studies which a few media outlets erroneously interpreted as proof of the end of QR codes.
